ITāS HERE! š©šŖšš Your heart knows whatās coming, and today SILBERKEHLE (Silver Throat) is out in Germany! I hope the book turns out to be everything you hope it will be, that it rips you apart and puts you back together, even stronger than before! (Not that itās my goal or anythingā¦š¬)
My dear magic sparks! I am very pleased to say that Iāll be returning to Norsk Litteraturfestival again this year! This time, Iāll be talking with my Princess Catharina Wandrup, winner of The Raven Rings Prize about her wonderful fantasy Ā«The LumiĆØre SistersĀ» and with the unicorn HĆ„kon Marcus, whoās been enjoying tremendous success with his debut fantasy, Ā«FeralĀ». Both on Aschehoug, who seem to be on a fantasy roll!
š©šŖGERMANY, itās happening! Your heart knows whatās coming, and very soon: 13. MƤrz is the release date for SILBERKEHLE, book 2 in the Vardari trilogy, and my amazing publisher, Arctis Verlag, is super ready! Translated by Dagmar MiĆfeldt and Dagmar Lendt. Thank you so much for all your nagging, I love you for it. Really! Your cravings are what keeps me going and I hope you love it!
One year ago, I confessed how I had wasted a decade fiddling with my first book, and I begged you not to wait as long as I did. Many of you made a promise to yourselves in the comments. Well, behold! The day of reckoning is upon us! Did you progress your dream? Then please brag about it, cause we want to celebrate you! But maybe you didnāt. Maybe you avoided looking your dream in the eye, pretending not to see it, likeā¦
Silver Throat was the most sold book at Outland Oslo in 2023ā¦ Unbelievable, it feels like only yesterday I wore my shoes down in their stores, hoping to one day have a book on their shelves, among all the heroes I loved to read. And now we even do special limited editions for them, with great pleasure and success! Thank you, dear Outland, and everyone who bought from them.
Kirkus has picked the best books of the year and dear Lord what a wonderful list to be on! Iron Wolf is one of just ten selected YA fantasy books, and as far as I cal tell the ONLY translated title, I canāt evenā¦ Iām so proud and truly honoured. This is the best Christmas gift I can imagine. Honestly, my husband can just print their page, wrap it and shove it under the tree and heāll be all set!
Dear everyone! We have a winner! Itās with immense joy and conviction I award The Raven Rings Prize to Catharina Natalie Wandrup, author of Ā«The LumiĆØre Sisters - The stars above TivoliĀ», a glittering and creative fairytale for middle grade readers. The story is original, solid and heartbreakingly beautiful. Ā«The LumiĆØre SistersĀ» is a modern fairytale, brimming with shimmering fairy lightsā¦
My sixth book, and sixth nomination, itās friggin mind-boggling! Ten years ago, Odinās Child was nominated, as the first fantasy ever, then it was the first entire series ever, and it kept getting wilder. Thousands of books are published every year, a fact of which Iām acutely aware, and the prescious place among the booksellersā top ten favourites, is a humbling privilege.
HERE THEY ARE, everyone! The dates youāve been asking for! Intelligence has been gathered and deals have been made. Not complete, not 100% certain, and some yet to be defined, but this is what we know so far about international releases of Silver Throat. In order of expected release:
SILVER THROAT
Imagine having stolen the devil from those in power. Robbed them of their source of everlasting life. And started a war, so fuelled by fear and disdain, that you are forced to become what you are hunting.

Aawww!š„°ā¤ļøš·š·Say hi to Juva & Hirka, the cutest little pigs that keep Nordvika farm busy. They are absolutely adorable, and the owners must be too, since they are clearly building a fantasy farm! No, itās not actually art, but naming your loved ones after book characters always make me smile.

Ā«Hirka and KuroĀ» is the name of this beautiful peace of music that appeared in my inbox this week. Awww š„°ā¤ļø Just look at these adorable sketches! Hirka, Rime and Kuro, all together in the sketchbook of @draconic_knott (on Instagram) who has a profile brimming with gorgeous drawings! Everything from The Beatles to robots, and some amazing puppies! Thank you so much for these, Wilbur, I love them! That emblem is brilliant, it would make a great tattoo, or embroidery on the back of my coat.
Dear everyone! Iām tackling the finale in the Vardari series these days, which means my activity online suffers, but I trust you to forgive me for that š Still, I had to surface to share this AMAZING TATTOO of Ymslandic herbs, covering the whole outer thigh of Nina Frimann Hillestad from Norway. Itās unbelievable! Exactly as they are described and drawn in the Raven Rings collectorās box.
š„Heeeere we are! The fanart you loved the most in 2023, a glorious collection that warms my heart more than I can ever say! Never doubt that Iām deeply grateful and intensely aware how lucky I am for all the work you put into this. I am awestruck, every year, as I browse through #fanartfriday. Thank you! No really, thank you, for being here, and for everything you do for me and my books š„° Here are your favourites (in random order) from the top left:
